From carpet industry headquarters to business hub
The Old Court began life in 1878-79, living as the offices and showroom of one of Kidderminster's carpet manufacturers - Woodward, Grosvenor & Company - reflecting the town's world-renowned carpet-making heritage. Designed in the Queen Anne Revival style, the building became a landmark at the gateway to the town centre.
The adjoining weaving sheds behind the building were part of the wider manufacturing operation that helped establish Kidderminster's international reputation.
During the 1970s, the building was converted to accommodate the Magistrates' Court, giving rise to the name many local people still recognise today.
After the Magistrates' Court moved to a new location in the early 2000s, the building was left vacant until a major regeneration project transformed it into the thriving business and creative hub it is today.
